What is GitHub Copilot?
GitHub Copilot is probably the most familiar AI coding tool around, and it earns its place by staying out of the way. As you type, it suggests the next line or whole function in gray text, and a quick Tab accepts it.
We like how it fits into tools people already use, including VS Code, JetBrains IDEs and GitHub itself. Copilot Chat lets you ask about a file, generate tests or explain an error, and newer agent features can take on larger multi-file tasks.
Suggestions are not always right, so reviewing them is part of the job, especially for security-sensitive code. The free tier comes with monthly limits, and Pro at $10 per month is one of the more affordable ways to code with AI every day.
